Pedestrian Advisory Committee (PAC) @ Courthouse Plaza (Cherry/Dogwood rooms (lobby level))

The PAC advises the County Board and the County Manager on the implementation of the pedestrian element of the Master Transportation Plan and other matters the committee deems important to advocate for the needs of pedestrians in Arlington.

The committee is made up of volunteers who keep the County focused on making Arlington a better place to walk — from the high-rise canyons of Rosslyn, Ballston and Crystal City to the leafy residential areas of north, south, and west Arlington.

Meetings are held every second Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. Members of the public are invited to join any meeting.

National Walking Day @ Pitstops are located in Ballston, Columbia Pike, Crystal City, and Rosslyn

National Walking Day, hosted by Arlington Transportation Partners and WalkArlington, will take place April 4 and is a great time to organize a group of friends to lace up their shoes and get in their steps.

Come learn fitness tips, pick up fun fitness swag items, and enter our giveaway as another incentive to get up and moving. Be sure to get there early while supplies last.

RSVP today to join the celebration at one of our four pit stops in Ballston, Columbia Pike, Crystal City, and Rosslyn.

Smartphone Photography Walking Tour @ Ballston-MU Metro Station

Imagine spending a wonderful day wandering and snapping cool pictures. You are excited to finally take a break to choose the ‘Instagram worthy’ ones only to realize they all look like they were shot from a moving train. We’ve all been there and we’re here to help.

WalkArlington is partnering with local artist, Jason Horowitz, to guide you on a smartphone photography walking tour through Ballston and Lubbers Run Park where you will learn tips and tricks to maximize your smartphone photography skills, while capturing the photogenic side of Arlington.

What You Can Expect to Learn:

  • Information on style, composition, light, exposure and phone apps
  • Settings and features to maximize your smartphones capabilities
  • New shooting techniques and editing tips
  • Ways to capture cityscape and nature scenery

The walk will conclude in Ballston where you can swap pictures and stories with fellow participants and have any final questions answered.

The event is free for people of all ages and abilities. Registration for the event is required, so we know how many people to expect for the walk. Wear comfortable shoes, and don’t forget to bring a fully charged smartphone.
