The Sidewalk

Hello, my name is Melissa and I live on 26th St. Arlington V.A.  I am 8 years old and about to be 9 in July and what I would like most for my birthday is for someone to start making a sidewalk.  I want to tell you why I want a sidewalk.  I would like a sidewalk because it would be safer for people to walk by the street. It would be especially safer for me because I walk to the bus stop every day and it would be easier if I had a sidewalk. It would also be safer for the kids who walk to Williamsburg Middle School. Besides the safety problem, a sidewalk would enable people to walk, jog, ride their bikes and scooters, walk their dogs, and play with sidewalk chalk.  A sidewalk would also enable people to walk instead of drive, which would create less pollution. In addition to all the things that I mentioned, almost all the people on my street want something to stop traffic. What I want is a sidewalk because it makes the road thinner which makes traffic go slower which enables people to cross the street.

Now you see County Board why I want a sidewalk. Thank you for making room in your schedule to let me speak to you.

:-)
