Do you enjoy walking or biking? Do you enjoy spending time in nature? If so, come meet with Bike and WalkArlington staff to learn more about volunteer opportunities with both organizations. Whether you’d like to help prepare customized bike routes, participate in community events with us, or serve as a bike or walk marshal for group rides and walks, there are many ways you can support our active transportation programs. It’s a great way to contribute to our community, meet new people, and have fun!
We will provide free refreshments and giveaways for those who attend.
We’ll be in the Campbell Room of Shirlington Library.

Join BikeArlington and WalkArlington along the Custis Trail in Rosslyn. We’ll be handing out free bike lights, reflective vests, and other gear to help you be seen after sunset! Look for our table along the trail near the Rosslyn bikeometer (bike counter).
Join BikeArlington and WalkArlington along the Mt. Vernon Trail in National Landing. We’ll be handing out free bike lights, reflective vests, and other gear to help you be seen after sunset! Look for our table on the Mt. Vernon Trail just past the tunnel leaving the Water Park.
Join BikeArlington and WalkArlington at the Washington & Old Dominion Trail at Columbia Pike. We’ll be handing out free bike lights, reflective vests, and other gear to help you be seen after sunset!
Join the Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail, Friends of Arlington’s Planetarium, and WalkArlington for a nature walk on the Mount Vernon Trail under the glow of the Beaver Moon.
We’ll meet at the Theodore Roosevelt Island Parking lot. Once people have gathered we will walk south on the Mount Vernon Trail while taking in views from the trail of the monuments at night. Near Memorial Bridge we will stop to learn about the Beaver Moon, explore the planets via telescopes, and look at the stars. You don’t want to miss out on this special opportunity.
The walk is about 1 mile (one way) and will end back at the parking lot around 8:00 p.m.
Join Bike and WalkArlington in Arlington, Virginia on MLK Day, to clean up litter and debris on the Washington & Old Dominion Trail, a beautiful trail that’s enjoyed by cyclists and walkers alike.
Beginning on the Washington & Old Dominion Trail where it intersects with Columbia Pike. Look for the orange and blue Bike/WalkArlington tent on the trail near the intersection of Columbia Pike and South Four Mile Run Drive! We’ll work our way down the W&OD toward South George Mason Drive.
The focus will be on picking up the litter and trash that gathers in the vegetation near the side of the trail.
Refreshments and some fun giveaways will be provided as a thank-you to all who come out for the cleanup.

Join WalkArlington and Alexandria Celebrates Women for a seven-mile women’s history walk that will start in Alexandria’s Old Town and end in D.C.
We’ll travel along the beautiful Mount Vernon Trail while enjoying women’s history briefings by experts along the route. Stops include Lady Bird Johnson Park, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Vietnam Women’s Memorial.
Bring a lunch and wear pink to mark the Cherry Blossom Festival.
If you’re not up for walking, you are welcome to bike the route. You can also leave at any time if seven miles feels like a bit too much for you.
This is going to be a scenic, healthy, and fun event—a fantastic learning opportunity and a way to celebrate Women’s History Month in the nation’s capital region.
We’ll start the walk in Alexandria at 99 Canal Center Plaza.
