DUE TO A HIGH CHANCE OF RAIN, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL SATURDAY, JULY 23, 9 A.M.-NOON.

WalkArlington & BikeArlington partner to clean up a part of the W&OD Trail on Saturday, July 23. We will make our way down the W&OD, starting near the Barcroft Community Center, setting up our tent on the W&OD Trail at the intersection of a small road named “Barcroft Center” and Four Mile Run Drive. We will pick up trash that accumulates alongside the trail. We will provide trash bags, gloves, trash pickers, drinks and some snacks. We will also have Bike and Walk giveaways.

We will build on the work we did on Celebrate Trails Day, when we cleaned up another section of the W&OD trail.

Walk & Learn: Understanding the Lives of People Experiencing Homelessness in Arlington @ Clarendon Metro Station
Sep 17 @ 10:00 am – 11:15 am

WalkArlington in partnership with Pathforward Present
Walk & Learn: Understanding the Lives of People Experiencing Homelessness in Arlington

Join WalkArlington and PathForward for an opportunity to walk and learn about the lives of people experiencing homelessness in our community.

On this 1 1/4-hour walk, PathForward staff members will share details of their organization’s work to care for and ensure the dignity of unhoused people in Arlington by providing them with medical services, street outreach, meals, and support in finding permanent supportive housing and a path to stability.

PathForward will also share their knowledge about some of the challenges people experiencing homelessness face in their daily lives–challenges many of us probably aren’t aware of.

The walk will start at the Clarendon Metro. We will make our way toward the Homeless Services Center in the Courthouse neighborhood of Arlington, stopping at significant places in the neighborhood along the way.

Participants should feel free to ask questions and participate in the experience.

Accessibility
People of all ages and abilities are welcome on all WalkArlington walks.

Walk marshals, who will be wearing orange reflective vests, will be on hand to assist anyone needing help on the walk. You can approach them at any time during the walk for help or notify them beforehand if you will need their help.

If you have questions about accessibility, or need to request a reasonable accommodation, such as a sign language interpreter, sighted guide or alternative formats of written materials not addressed here, please email info@walkarlington.com or call Mary Dallao at 703-597-7298 by September 9, 2022.

You will have the option to use a sewing machine or sew by hand. All skill levels are welcome and all materials needed will be provided.

There will also be some dessert treats (including delicious baklava) and warm beverages to share while we trade tips and secrets about walking and biking in winter.

The event is free, but RSVPs are requested. Space is limited so don’t delay signing up!
